The cowl starts with a provisional cast on, with the main portion worked flat sideways with the larger needle in three sections. Stitches are then picked up along one long end and worked in 2x2 rib using the smaller needle together with the stitches from the two short ends. The center section is then worked from bottom to top between the short ends from an I-cord edge start. The cowl is bound off with an I-cord on top of the 2x2 rib, along the entire top edge.
