“Mahalle” (ma-ha-lay) means “neighborhood” in Turkish. This traditional toe up sock has been knit in Turkish families for generations, taught to children from the time they can first manage the 4 to 5 DPNs used.

Socks are knit in the round from the toe up using a traditional Turkish Figure 8 Cast On. The foot is knit in the round, in stockinette stitch.
The Heel is turned using short rows, the Leg stitches are picked up after, the sock is finished with a 2x2 rib.
